I am writting to you in order to complain about your article about Basque Language which has been recently published in the Wall Street Journal.

I am a lawyer who is currently working for the basque public administration. I am 44. I learned both in basque and in spanish in a Ikastola ( a basque school) during the Franco´s rule. In that period it was possible to learn in basque even though in a discreet way.

However, during my law studies it wasn´t possible for me to study in basque at the law school. So, I went on my own and I got my current job as a civil servant. So far I have made a good progress in the studies for improving the use oF basque language in my job and I must tell you that I don´t find any special difficulty to develop that job in basque nor in spanish.

I didn´t get my job because the basque. I think that I am a god lawyer. I am persuaded that I would be a good lawyer in any spanish administration, as well, doing my job only in spanish.

I don´t agree with your article. I have found it tendentious and false in some of its aspects. I speak in basque with my children. They are learning in basque and they have no found any difficulties to learn their subjects at school.

I would like you to revise the terms of your article after talking with some basque speakers. Sincerely I am persuaded that you would change your mind about this matter.
